How to Hit a Driver Golf Club

The driver is a specific type of golf club that professionals and amateurs alike rely on for distance. This club has a large face, very little loft and is used only in the tee area of a given hole. If you want to use your driver to hit for distance and accuracy, you can do so by following a few simple tips throughout your swing.

Instructions

    • 1

Address the golf ball as you normally would so your feet are parallel and lined up evenly and your front shoulder is facing your target.

    • 2

Line up the ball closer to the front of your stance so the ball is even with the inside heel of your front foot.

    • 3

Spread your feet so they are slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.

    • 4

Employ the "low and slow" method. Draw back the driver slowly and keep it close to ground in the initial stages of your regular back swing. Avoid drawing it back sharply. Visualize a slow, sweeping arc.

    • 5

Return the club along the same path during the downswing as you made during the backswing. Your downswing should be quick and explosive as compared to the deliberate nature of the backswing.
