Though it is frustrating and complex, the basic object of the game is to hit a ball into a hole, slating the victor has he who does it in the least attempts. The exact origins of golf can not be traced as definitely starting in Scotland. Ancient Chinese civilizations had a game to this effect as did the Dutch, but in the mid- to late 1400s Scottish shepherds began striking pebbles or leather balls stuffed with feathers towards predetermined holes cut in the ground using the butts of their staffs. They may not have invented the game but they were the first to call it golf. Today, Scotland is home to hundreds of courses and offers numerous vacation opportunities to players wishing to experience the accepted birthplace of the game.

It provides lodgings in three separate hotels located throughout the country as you make your way towards the prestigious Old and New St. Andrews courses which you will play on your sixth and seventh days. Transportation is not provided, however, you can upgrade to secure a driver and guide.

The eight-day vacation spans the Scotland countryside and culminates at the St. Andrews Old Course, which you play on the seventh day.
