Golf Luncheon Themes

Incorporate golf tournaments, courses, players, equipment and the many other aspects of the sport into a golf-themed luncheon. Themes can be utilized in their entirety or mixed and matched for a more distinct event. Place the theme into as many aspects of the luncheon as you can, including the decorations, food and any activities you plan. Even the invitations can look like tickets to a PGA event. No matter what theme you choose, add well-known golf symbols such as balls and clubs to decorate the tables so it's clear what kind of event you're holding.
  1. Golf Course

    • Make diners feel like they are in the middle of a golf course with each table representing a different hole. Use a miniature flag with the hole number for the centerpieces. Use green tablecloths, and place miniature trees, tiny golfer figurines and a little bowls filled with sand and water atop the tables. Play audio in the background with the subtle sounds of nature so that diners will feel like they are outside. If you are serving a cake, make it green with toppers that look like miniature golfers. For a twist, make food that resembles golf items, such as cream-covered puffs that look like golf balls.

    Famous golf tournaments

    • The PGA runs a myriad of golf tournaments, and your luncheon can focus on those. Each table can represent a tournament on the tour schedule, with the head table representing the PGA Championship. Include information on the courses and past winners at each table. Decorations along the walls can show photographs from the different tournaments. Play audio clips of famous moments from the majors so diners feel like they are actually there. Give out small trophy cups as little favors from the luncheon.

    Golf Through the years

    • Various aspects of golf have changed greatly through the years. This includes the clothing, equipment and rules. The luncheon can entertain your guests as well as educate them if you include information on the sport's history. Include photographs of different apparel, clubs and balls from throughout the years. Use these photos as centerpieces on the tables or hang them on the walls. Include memorabilia as well.

    Famous golfers

    • Choose from prominent golfers from the past, current stars and up-and-comers. Dedicate each table to a specific golfer and decorate with photographs of the player. Provide statistics including tournaments won and the player's top finishes. Incorporate items that champion golfers may have. Drape a green jacket over a chair and decorate with pretend trophies. If you want to incorporate an activity into the luncheon, quiz diners about the accomplishments of the top golfers.
