De-grip & Regrip
-
1
Clamp your club in a vice. Do not over tighten because the club shafts are hollow and can bend or crack easily.
-
2
Cut off the old grip with the utility knife. The easiest method is to halve the grip along the top (upper facing) side and then peel it off.
-
3
Remove the old grip tape by wetting it with a golf grip solvent or mineral spirits and then rubbing it off with an old cloth or scraping it away with the utility knife.
-
4
Apply the new grip tape. Remove one side of the film covering one side of the tape and Set it lengthwise along the shaft, allowing 1/2 inch of tape to extend past the end of the club. Fold and push the rest of the tape into the butt of the club. Remove the other side of the film and smooth the tape out so there are no bubbles underneath it.
-
5
Lay an old rug or towel underneath your work area to catch dripping solvent. Soak the taped portion of the club with solvent. Work the open end of the new grip around the end of the club and then slide the new grip onto the club as quickly as possible. Remove the club from the vice and let it dry for an hour.
