1
Pour warm water into a bucket and add a few drops of dish soap. Soak a rag in this solution and use it to clean off the part of the club where the head meets the shaft.
-
2
Insert the golf club into a vise and tighten the clamps to hold it in place. Wrap a towel or rag around the shaft if you wish to protect this part of the club while in the vise.
-
3
Take a heat gun and gently heat the part of the club where the head and shaft come together. Move the heat gun up and down the club and don't linger in one spot. This will help prevent scorching the finish. Continue heating until you see small puffs of steam escaping from the head. This indicates that the glue inside is melting.
-
4
Put on a pair of heat protective gloves. Slowly and gently pull the head off the shaft. Do not twist the head back and forth when trying to remove it, as this may damage the shaft.
-
5
Continue heating the club and trying to pull the head off until the head slides off the shaft.
