Things You'll Need

Instructions

1
Put on your heat resistant gloves.
-
2
Turn on your blow torch. When turning the blow torch on, make sure you keep the end of the nozzle facing away from you so you do not burn yourself or clothing. Also, keep the blow torch in your strong hand.
-
3
Hold your hockey stick upside down so that the blade is facing up. Make sure you hold it in your non-dominant hand. If you have a blade that you are going to attach into an aluminum or graphite stick, hold the blade at the stem.
-
4
Start by applying heat to the heel of the blade with your blow torch. Keep the end of the flame approximately one to two inches away from the blade at all times. If you keep the heat too close it will burn the wood, ruining the integrity of the blade.
-
5
Run the heat across the bottom of the blade from the heel to the toe in one, smooth motion. It should only take approximately one to two seconds to run the heat from the blow torch across the blade.
-
6
Run the heat across the middle of the blade from the toe to the heel in one, smooth motion. This should only take about one to two seconds.
-
7
Run the heat across the top of the blade from the heel to the toe in one, smooth motion. This should only take about one to two seconds.
-
8
Repeat steps 3 through 6 on the other side of the blade.
-
9
Bend the blade to your desired curvature. The more pressure you apply, the more curved you will make your blade.
