How to Decorate Goalie Blockers

The blocker is an essential part of the arsenal used by hockey goaltenders while defending the net. The blocker is the flat-faced glove worn on the stick hand of the goalie, and it offers a large surface for customization. While modern blockers are usually adorned with significant graphics from the factory, this doesn't prevent goalies from individualizing this piece of equipment.

Instructions

    • 1

Recolor the blocker using liquid shoe polish or dye. Apply a coat of polish to the blocker, allowing it to dry. The first coat will not have full coverage. Repeat coloring the area of the blocker you want customized by pressing down on the spongy applicator and carefully moving it over the area. Artificial leather may require more coats than real leather.

Apply vinyl hockey helmet stickers on the front to reflect your jersey number.

    • 3

Change the color of any white stitching or embroidered area by coloring them with paint pens. Use this color change to more closely match team colors, or other colors found on your pads or catch glove.

Remove the laces around the cuff area, replacing them with team-colored laces. Use two-tone waxed skate laces to increase durability and visibility. You can use the same laces to relace the pocket of your catch glove for even more uniformity.
