Biography of Kristian Huselius

If you follow professional hockey and the biggest stars of the National Hockey League, then you probably have heard of Kristian Huselius, a Swedish-born athlete who is a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Huselius has been active force on the hockey scene since the late 1990s.
  1. Birth

    • Kristian Huselius entered the world on November 10th, 1978. He was born in the community of --sterhaninge, which is just outside of Stockholm, Sweden's largest metropolis and capital city.

    Career

    • Kristian Huselius' professional career as a hockey player started when he was drafted by the Florida Panthers in 1997 with the 47th pick in the draft. The athlete also continued to play with Farjestad of the Swedish League until joining the Panthers in 2001-2002. The left wing then joined Canada's Calgary Flames toward the end of 2005. During the off-season of 2008, Huselius committed to four years with the Columbus Blue Jackets as a free agent.

    Competitions

    • Kristian Huselius has been part of many competitions during his hockey career. He helped Sweden's national team capture the bronze at the 2001 World Hockey Championship. In the 2000-2001 season, he became the first player in history to rank at the top of every offensive category in the Swedish League. In his rookie season with the Panthers, he ranked third in scoring in the NHL.

    Injuries

    • From the end of 2010 to the beginning of 2011, Kristian Huselius experienced several injuries that caused him to miss games. The injuries were from his lower body, ankle, groin and hip areas.

    Scandal

    • The hockey star made headlines in the beginning of 2005 due to a sex scandal, along with fellow players Andreas Lilja and Henrik Tallinder. The three were accused of raping a young woman. However, the charges were soon dropped due to insufficient evidence. Huselius and the other players were suspended from the NHL for one season.
