Louisiana High School Rodeo Association

The Louisiana High School Rodeo Association (LHSRA) caters to both junior high and high school students who would like to learn about rodeo and take part in rodeo events. It accepts members throughout the year. Students can apply via forms on the association's website.
The association organizes events a few times a month on average, as suggested by the schedule on its website. Events take place in Louisiana towns such as Sulphur, Eunice, Lafayette and Ruston. The LHSRA has detailed ground rules that apply to its events. It elects judges and other official personnel each year to judge rodeo meetings in which members take part. The association also offers scholarships and insurance for its members.

The Louisiana State Gay Rodeo Association (LSGRA) is a recently formed rodeo association catering toward gay individuals with an interest in rodeo. The LSGRA has its base in New Orleans, and as of fall 2010 was aiming to organize its first rodeo event in the coming year. Membership in the LSGRA is $25 per year, or $15 for non-voting members. Alternatively, companies can join at a cost of $150 per year for a corporate membership, as noted on the LSGRA website.
In addition to organizing rodeo events, the LSGRA has plans to take part in fundraising activities for local charities, such as the NO/AIDS task force and the Ronald McDonald House. Such activities include beer busts and the selling of LSGRA T-shirts.
