Instructions

Begin by measuring your pony's back. You want to measure from the front of the withers, to the back of the loin. Write this number down.

    • 2

Choose your throw blanket. It needs to be of heavy material, preferably wool or heavy duty polar fleece. Do not choose cotton or other light material, as this will fall apart too rapidly.

    • 3

Fold your throw blanket in half and compare its measurement to that of your pony's back. If need be, you will trim your throw blanket to fit.

    • 4

Use your heavy thread and carpet needle to sew the edges of your throw rug together. Double stitch and double sew for durability.

    • 5

Check the fit of your pad as you work on your sewing. Try to avoid wrinkles as this will catch at your pony's hair and chafe him. Place on your pony's back, saddle up, and enjoy.
