How to Size an Ice Hockey Stick

1
Get your son or daughter's gear. They'll need to be wearing their ice hockey skates when you're sizing their hockey stick, so be sure to throw the skates in the car before you head out to the store with your child. You may also want them to wear the socks they would normally wear during the game.
-
2
Lace them up. When you get to the sporting goods store's ice hockey stick display, have your son or daughter put on their skates and lace them up.
-
3
Put the "toe" of the potential stick purchase on the ground by your child's feet. This is the tip of the blade part of the stick.
-
4
Make sure the top of the shaft of the stick comes between the tip of their nose and their chin. Having the stick fall between the tip of their nose and chin enables them to maneuver the stick most easily on the ice.
-
5
Verify that you have the correct stick size. It is very difficult to use an under or over-sized ice hockey stick. Sizing is very important, so a properly sized stick makes for the best hockey practice and play.
