How to Prepare a Profile for Sports Sponsorship

Before you begin to seek sponsorship there are several things to keep in mind. These include what kind of sponsorship you are looking for, what you have to offer the sponsors and why a company or individual would be interested in sponsoring you or your team. Developing an individual sponsorship package is the first step in securing funds. An effective proposal will have four sections: Cover letter, fact resume, yearly plan and budget. You should also include any pictures or video that can enhance your package.

  1. Sections to Include in Your Package

    • 1

Write a cover letter. Introduce yourself, provide a brief description of your goals and outline the key benefits the sponsor will receive.

    • 2

Include your resume. List all accomplishments in your sport including the name of the event, date, location and result. List any coaching courses, sports camps or special training opportunities in which you have participated. Remember to include pictures or video.

    • 3

Prepare a year plan. Outline your plan for the year including training, competitions, and costs associated with each item. If you are requesting sponsorship for one specific event or one aspect of your sponsorship, highlight this section.

    • 4

Be specific on funding. Outline the free or free range you are requesting and the specifics of the sponsorship. For example, if you are seeking sponsorship for a uniform, one tournament, one year of tournaments, etc. You may decide to offer different levels of sponsorship and based on that level you will offer the sponsor-specific services in return. For example, how often you wear clothing with their product name.
