1
Buy a notebook and pen and keep it for writing down your circuit training record. Write "Log Book" on the front. Keep it with your gym kit so you do not forget to take it with you.
-
2
Write down your exercise program. Circuit training includes performing a set of repetitions on a weight machine before taking a break for a minute then repeating the process on a new piece of equipment. Allocate one page per exercise so you can keep track of your progress easily. For example, write "60 seconds Leg Press" or "Alternating Lunge" at the top of each page.
-
3
Add columns onto each page to fill in the details of your progress. Below the name of the exercise create four columns. Label them: Date, Weight Lifted, Number of Repetitions, Time.
-
4
Go to the gym with your new log book and begin tracking your progress. Perform your first exercise and open your book to the corresponding page.
-
5
Fill in the details of each exercise you complete. Write the date under "Date," how many pounds of weight you used during the exercise under the heading "Weight Lifted," then add how many sets you completed below "Number of Repetitions" and, finally, note the time it took you to complete this.
-
6
Continue to follow this process for each exercise you complete in your training program to keep track of your improvements. Make additional notes in the back of your book to monitor yourself. For example, if you have an injury and cannot perform a particular exercise, write this down so it doesn't affect your progress.
-
7
Review your log book once a month to recognize improvements you have made. Read down the columns of your record. Notice whether you have managed to increase the weight lifted or become quicker at performing a set of repetitions of a certain exercise.
