How to Do a Tail Grab on Skis

Skiing is a recreational winter sport where riders travel down a mountain while strapped to a pair of skis, which are pointed parallel to each other gather speed. Many skiers begin to add tricks to their arsenal as they ski off jumps or ridges on a mountain. Tricks are fun to perform and entertaining for spectators watching you ride. The tail grab is an aerial maneuver where the rider grabs on to the tail of one ski while in midjump.

      Ski at the jump or ridge at an average pace. Skiing too slow will limit your time to land the maneuver. However, do not ski so fast that you are out of control.

      Jump off with your skis parallel to each other.

      Turn your toes out so that the heels of your skis cross over each other.

      Arch your legs back so that the heels of your skis are raised up behind your back.

      Touch the back tip of one ski with your hand.

      Bring your skis back under you and land with your feet parallel so that you can ride out of the landing.

      Flex your legs as you land to absorb the energy of the jump and increase your chances of landing safely.
