How to Bake Ski Liners

When you are on the ski slopes all day, the last thing you want to deal with is foot pain due to ill-fitting ski boots. With heat-moldable ski liners, you can customize your ski boots to fit your foot perfectly and it can all be done in your own home if you have a convection oven or an oven with a convection setting. Best of all, you have five chances to mold your boots, so if it does not feel quite right the first time, you can try again.

Instructions

    • 1

Preheat your oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 2

Remove the liner from the ski boot and pull off the laces and foot beds.

    • 3

Put the liners on a cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil and place them in the heated oven for 10 to 12 minutes.

    • 4

Press the foot beds against the bottoms of your feet, place the toe caps over the tips of your feet and pull a thin sock over everything to keep it all in place.

    • 5

Remove the liners from the oven once they have heated until they are puffed up.

    • 6

Slip your feet into the liners, then put on the ski boot, making sure the liner is smoothed out and sitting straight.

    • 7

Tap your heels on the ground a few times to make sure your heel is sitting as far back in the liner as possible.

    • 8

Stand for 10 minutes with a book under your toes to keep your heels in the back of the boot.

    • 9

Walk around and test out the boots. If they don't feel quite right, start over and repeat the whole process again to get the right fit.
