How to Mold Snowboard Boots

Snowboard and ski boots have special liners made of a stiff material that can be molded to your exact foot shape. This means that you will achieve the best possible grip while wearing your boot as well as providing your foot with good support. Many sporting good stores will mold your shoes for you at an added cost, but you can easily do it at home free of charge. You will only need an oven and a few minutes to devote to the molding to get professional results.

Instructions

    • 1

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 2

Cut out eight small pieces of foam with scissors. You will need one piece to go between each of your toes, so check that each piece fits comfortably between your toes.

    • 3

Cut off the first several inches of each sock, where the toe seam is. Use sharp scissors to get a clean cut. These are your toecaps.

    • 4

Put the toecaps on your toes, over the foam pieces wedged between your toes.

    • 5

Pull on thin ski socks on your feet, pulling them over the toecaps and foam pieces.

    • 6

Line an oven tray with foil and place the liners of your snowboard boots on the tray.

    • 7

Lower the temperature of the preheated oven to about 150 degrees Fahrenheit and insert the tray with the liners on it.

    • 8

Leave the liners in the oven for four or five minutes.

    • 9

Take the liners out of the oven once they are soft and pliable.

    • 10

Slip the liners onto your feet over the ski socks and put the snowboard boots on over the liners.

    • 11

Leave the snowboard boots on for 20 minutes to let the liners mold completely to your feet.
