How to Mold a Foot to a Snowboard Boot

For improved fit and performance with your snowboard boots, mold them to your feet. A custom fit gives extra comfort and supports the contours of your feet. Many modern snowboards use heat-moldable liners that allow you to form the liner to your feet. Timing is important when heating and molding the boot liners, so be prepared by having all materials and gear at the ready.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull the liners out of the boots. Pull the boot tongues out as far as possible.

    • 2

Cover a cooking sheet with foil. Heat your oven to 180 degrees and make sure it is on a bake or convection setting.

    • 3

Put the liners into the over on the low rack. Place the liners on the covered sheet. Bake them for five minutes, keeping a close eye on them as they heat. The liners are ready when they expand and look bloated.

    • 4

Put your socks on while the liners are cooking. Pull the liners out after five minutes and let them cool for approximately one minute. Slip the liners onto your feet and step into your boots. Tie the boots tight and get into your snowboard position on a flat floor.

Stay standing in the position for 20 minutes. This gives the liners time to cool and form around the contours of your feet. Take the boots off, leaving the liners in and let them set overnight to mold to the boot.
