How to Lengthen a Snowboard Binding

To get the most out of your snowboard, the bindings must be properly adjusted to the size of your boot. Lengthening bindings to fit a larger boot requires adjusting the toe ramp and binding-strap lengths. All you need to make these adjustments is a full-length Philips screwdriver and your boots. Making binding adjustments might seem daunting at first, but you will quickly notice that the process is straightforward.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the snowboard on a flat surface or work bench with the bindings upright.

    • 2

Extend the toe ramp, found at the toe of the bindings. Unscrew the mounting screws of the toe bed with a #2 Philips screwdriver and pull the toe bed off the snowboard.

    • 3

Push the locking mechanism of the toe ramp down with the screwdriver and pull the ramp out with your hand to extend it. Extend the toe ramp so the toe bed has maximum contact with the toe bed of the boot. Be careful not to extend the front edge of the toe ramp beyond the boot's toe.

    • 4

Mount the toe bed back onto the bindings. Place your boots into the bindings and inspect the toe-ramp adjustment. Extend the toe ramp further, if necessary. Remember, you want full support from the toe bed.

    • 5

Adjust the ankle and toe binding-strap lengths by pulling the bolts off the straps, using your fingers. Remove the straps from the bindings. Fit the boot into the bindings.

    • 6

Center the ankle strap over the boot and slide it into the adjustable ankle slider. Feed the strap into the slider until the strap cannot slip out of the slider. Tightly extend the strap over the ankle of the boot. Take note of the hole that lines up with the ankle strap bolt hole. Measure the toe strap using the same method.

Remove the boot and bolt the straps down, using the holes noted in Step 6.
