1
Choose a heavy-duty nylon thread in a color matching your pants. Fix the tear either by sewing it by-hand or with your sewing machine.
-
2
Identify the location of the tear in your pants. If the tear is along an outer seam, turn the pants inside out. Snowboard pants have an inner lining, so to repair this type of tear, use your seam ripper to open the inner lining near the tear.
-
3
Sew along the seam tear with your machine. Alternatively, use a straight stitch by hand. Once you sew the outer seam tear, sew up the inner lining you opened to get at the tear.
-
4
Use a waterproof iron-on patch to repair other tears in your snowboard pants. They can be applied either on the outside or inside of the pants. Applying the patch to the inside requires more work because you have to open the inner lining seam to access the tear.
-
5
Bring the edges of the tear as close together as possible. Cut and measure the patch to be slightly bigger than the tear. Follow the patch instructions for the temperature of your iron and for the length of time to iron the patch in place.
