How to Build Snowboarding Rails

Snowboarding over snow park terrain is exhilarating, but access to mountain resort snow parks can be expensive. The snowboarding rails you enjoy at these snow parks can be constructed just as well as professionally-built snowboarding rails. The most difficult material to find is the metal rail which should be about 6 feet long and 4 inches wide, but if you can't afford to buy the metal rail from an industrial supply company, you can find something much cheaper at the local junk yard.

  • 1 2-by-4-inch board, 4 feet long
  • 1 2-by-4-inch board, 6 feet long

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the 4-foot-long, 2-by-4-inch board into four, 1-foot pieces with the saw. These will be used as the legs of the rail.

    • 2

Screw the 10-foot-long, 2-by-4-inch boards together into the shape of a T using at least four screws from different angles for stability. This will make two Ts to form the base of your snowboarding rail.

    • 3

Place the 2-by-4-inch Ts with the top of the Ts on the ground about 6 feet apart before laying the 6-foot-long, 2-by-4-inch board on top of them.

    • 4

Screw the 6-foot-long, 2-by-4-inch board into the tops of the upside down T legs using four screws on each side and driving them in at different angles for stability.

    • 5

Spread liquid nails adhesive all over the surface of the 6-foot-long, 2-by-4-inch board.

    • 6

Lay the 6-foot-long by 4-inch wide piece of steel rail on top of the 6-foot-long, 2-by-4-inch board and the liquid nails adhesive you spread in step 5.

    • 7

Do not touch the rail until the liquid nails adhesive is completely dry.
