Instructions
-
-
1
Cut the 2 by 4 inch boards into 4 five foot long pieces with the saw to serve as the legs.
-
2
Cut the 2 by 4 inch boards into 9 two foot long pieces to serve as cross supports between the legs.
-
3
Lay two of the five foot long 2 by 4 inch boards parallel on the ground before laying three of the two foot long boards across the two longer boards like a ladder making sure they are evenly spaced.
-
4
Screw the three 2 by 4 inch boards into the two 5 foot long boards like a small ladder. Use two screws on each side of each rung of the ladder to construct the front legs of your drop in ramp.
-
5
Lay the other 2 five foot long boards on the ground parallel to each other before laying 2 two foot long boards across them about 8 inches from the ends.
-
6
Screw the 2 two foot long boards into the 2 five foot long boards like a small ladder. Use two screws on each side of each rung of the ladder to construct the rear legs of the drop in ramp.
-
7
Drill four holes through the sides of the four front and back legs about 12 inches from the top and bottom.
-
8
Drill two holes through each end of the four remaining two foot long boards. Drill the holes on the wide side of the boards about 1 and 3/4 inches from the ends.
-
9
Place the remaining four cross braces on the sides of the front and back sets of legs and thread the eight bolts into the holes on the inside of the front and back legs and through the cross braces to the outside.
-
10
Thread washers and wing nuts on the end of all eight bolts and tighten by hand leaving you a four legged structure standing on its own. The wing nuts will allow you to loosen and fold up your drop in ramp for travel.
-
11
Cut four 27 inch pieces of 2 by 4 inch board.
-
12
Screw the four 27 inch long boards to the sides of the bottom of the 27 by 27 inch plywood board creating a wooden frame around the sides. This framed board will sit right on top of your four legged structure to provide the upper platform from which to drop in.
-
13
Cut the plywood sheet into a 24 inch wide by 78 inch long board to serve as the drop in ramp.
-
14
Cut two 78 inch long pieces of 2 by 4 inch board before cutting 45 degree angles off of each wide end of the two boards to accommodate the angles of the ramp.
-
15
Screw the 78 inch long boards to the sides of the bottom of your 78 inch long by 24 inch wide ramp board to serve as rails to stabilize the bottom of your drop in ramp.
-
16
Drill four holes at the top of the drop in ramp for the mounting brackets.
-
17
Drill four holes through the top of the ramp board through which to mount your metal elbow brackets.
-
18
Bolt the metal elbow brackets to the underside of the drop in ramp by threading the four bolts through the four drilled holes and tightening the four nuts with the adjustable wrench.
-
19
Hang the other ends of the metal elbow brackets on the top rung between the two front posts. Do not bolt the other side of the elbow brackets to the top rung so your ramp will be easier to disassemble making it more mobile. The ramp should simply hook onto the top rung support board when you want to use your drop in ramp.
-
20
Screw strips of carpet or thin wood across the ramp at different heights to help hold snow on the ramp better.
