How to Buy Snow Pants
Instructions

1
Determine how you are going to use your snow pants. Some models are made for outdoor work while others are made for activities like snowboarding.
-
2
Determine how much you're willing to pay. Buying a pair of snow pants to wear when you shovel the driveway is a different budgetary item than purchasing a pair of snow pants that you'll use on a skiing or snowboarding trip. Snow pants, because of their layers of cushion and fabric to keep you warm and protected, fit much differently than a regular pair of pants. The key is mobility and comfortable. If you are uncomfortable in the department store or gear shop, you will be uncomfortable in them after you purchase them.
-
3
Bring your snow boots with you when you go and try on snow pants. Put on your snow boots with the pants to make sure the length and width are correct.
-
4
Examine the layers of material that make up the pants. There are typically three layers of material--one to take moisture away from your body, a middle layer that acts as an insulator and the outer layer that comes in contact with the elements. These are important features to the pants and you need to check them when you're buying.

5
Check out the number of pockets and compartments on the snow pants. If you like to carry around gear, you will want enough pockets on the pants for things like your wallet and cell phone. Also, make sure your you put on the bib if there is one with the pair and check out the zippers to make sure they work properly.
