Snow Pants
-
1
Buy a pair of waterproof snow pants from an outdoor retailer or thrift store. Try them on over your pants to find the right fit. Waterproof pants will have sealed seams, indicated by a piece of tape running along the seam inside the pants. If you are unsure whether the pants are waterproof, ask a salesperson. Find a pair that unzips at the bottom to go over your boots more easily. Buy insulated pants to fight off the cold.

2
Tuck the bottoms of your casual pants into your shoes or boots so they do not drag on the ground. If you will be in constant snowfall, boots will provide more traction and warmth. You can wear any type of pant under your snow pants, but stretch pants or spandex work the best. Wear the snow pants when walking, running, skiing, snowshoeing, biking or sitting in the snow.

3
Tuck your shirt into your pants. If your shirt hangs out the bottom of your jacket, it might also get wet from the snow.

4
Roll the bottoms of your casual pants 5 to 8 inches off the ground. Each fold should be about 1 to 2 inches. Make each fold defined so that it holds better.
-
5
Secure the bottoms of your pants with velcro straps, rubber bands or a piece of string. This prevents the excess material from unrolling or moving unnecessarily while walking. Wear tall socks to keep your ankles warm when rolling the bottoms. Wool socks are warm and remove sweat from your feet while walking.

6
Remove the strap and unroll your pants when you have reached your destination.
