How to Clean Goalie Masks
Hockey goalies take a lot of abuse. They are often in the center of the action and have to defend the net against pucks shot at blazing-fast speeds. In addition to the physical intensity of their job, the goalie's gear and helmet get sweaty and stinky over time. Because a goalie won't want to wear a smelly mask, it's important to clean off the mask and sanitize it regularly.
Things You'll Need

- Sponge

1
Fill a sink with warm water and soap. Dip a sponge into the soapy water and scrub down the entire mask. Wash off any salt accumulation from sweat and any discoloration along the pads.
-
2
Rinse the mask and spray it down with a white vinegar-water solution. As a general rule, use about a 25-to-75 percent ratio of vinegar to water. Once you've sprayed the entire mask, wipe it dry with a chamois cloth. If there are stains that persist, give them another vinegar-water treatment and wipe them. Let the mask dry.

3
Spray down the inside of the mask with a disinfectant and let it dry. This spray removes any bacteria that built up from the sweat accumulation.
