How to Clean a Snorkel Mask

Snorkeling is a fun and easy way to enjoy the ocean, and to see the marine life under the water. Keeping equipment such as your snorkeling mask clean is essential because salt crystals from the saltwater can dry and harden on the mask, causing scratches and small holes. It also can weaken the straps. Snorkel masks are like scuba masks, and are cleaned and maintained the same way.

Instructions

When you first purchase your snorkel mask, there will be an oily film on it. To remove it, take a small amount of toothpaste and rub it on the inside of the lenses using your fingertips. Do not use your fingernails. They might scratch the lenses.

Rinse the mask with freshwater until the toothpaste is completely gone.
