How to Clean a Soccer Jersey

Playing soccer is a physically demanding sport. Because so much action is involved, soccer uniforms take a hit when it comes to getting dirty, dusty and sometimes even a bit bloody. Keeping a soccer jersey clean and ready for the next match requires a little time, effort and elbow grease to make sure your soccer jersey is nice and clean for the next game.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the soccer jersey immediately after a match. Soak the jersey in cold water to help prevent stains from setting in to the fabric.

    • 2

Turn the soccer jersey inside out. Use a mild laundry detergent, following the manufacturers stated instructions on the amount to use for the laundry load size you will be washing. The mild detergent will remove stains and also protect the lettering and numbers on the jersey. Wash the soccer jersey on the gentle machine setting, using cold water for both the wash and rinse cycle.

Remove the soccer jersey from the washing machine after the spin cycle has completed. Lay the jersey flat to dry. Keep the jersey inside out. Opt to lay the jersey on top of an absorbent white towel to help speed the drying process. Turn the jersey over every few hours so both sides dry thoroughly.

Run the jersey, once completely dry, through the air fluff cycle to soften up the jersey if necessary. Do not use a clothes dryer to dry the jersey as the heat may melt the letters or numbers on the jersey.
