How to Tighten Goal Straps

Soccer goal straps are small, removable straps, most often made of Velcro, that are used to attach the soccer net to the goal frame. Soccer goal post straps are available at most sporting goods stores or soccer specialty stores and often come with instructions on how to tighten them in order to keep the net from sagging or falling down during play.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach the soccer net to the goal post using the goal straps. Read the instructions on the goal strap package carefully. Most goal straps are placed on each side of the goal post in the middle of the side poles. Often, two more are placed in the bottom corners of the goal posts to keep the net from coming loose. Another single goal strap is often placed on the top bar of the goal post in the center.

    • 2

Once all goal straps are in place, securing the net to the posts, tighten the straps one by one to make sure the net is tight on the goal posts. Separate the two pieces of Velcro from one another on each goal strap and pull the circular strap tight around the pole.

    • 3

Keeping the straps tight, lay the bottom Velcro piece back in place and lay the top piece over it.

    • 4

Press firmly on the top Velcro piece to secure it to the bottom one.

    • 5

Repeat this tightening technique for all five of the goal straps. After all straps are tightened, the net should be firmly in place without any holes in the corner. The net should not sag at the top.
