How to Jockey in Soccer
Things You'll Need
- Soccer ball
- Partner
- Cones or soccer goal
Instructions
-
-
1
Set up a goal or cones to represent a goal.
-
2
Appoint your partner as the attacker and yourself as the defender. Give the attacker the ball and have him attack the goal by dribbling toward it.
-
3
Position yourself between the attacker and the goal.
-
4
Lower your center of gravity by bending your knees and leaning your body forward slightly. If the attacker moves in to the left or to the right, backpedal to keep yourself between him and the goal.
-
5
Approach the attacker from a 45-degree angle and try to force him toward the sideline. Do not face an attacker straight on; you risk having the ball kicked between your legs or your opponent maneuvering around you.
-
6
Move side to side along with your opponent rather than trying to move straight in toward him.
-
7
Wait for the attacker to release the ball farther away from them than normal during a dribble, then attempt to intercept the ball.
