How to Wear Kids' Soccer Gear

Soccer is a fun team sport for young children, and one with a relatively low risk of injury when played with the appropriate safety attire. In order for a child to safely participate, however, it is important that he have a pair of snug-fitting shoes to avoid falling over loose footwear, and a strong pair of shin guards with ankle guards, to protect the child's lower legs from the feet of other players on the field.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your foot through the ankle guard of each shin guard.

    • 2

Secure the strap on the bottom of the ankle guards under the center of each foot.

    • 3

Hold the plastic shell against your shin, then tighten it with the attached Velcro strap, tightening enough that it will not move, but not so tight as to cut off circulation.

    • 4

Pull your socks on, extending the long sock its full length. Most socks will reach up over the knees when fully pulled up.

    • 5

Bend the top of the sock down over the shin guard again, so the sock extends as high as a few inches beneath your knee.

    • 6

Fold the top edge of the sock back up to level with the first crease in the sock if more than a few inches of sock had to be folded down, so the doubled section is only a few inches long.

    • 7

Put on your shoes and lace them up snugly. Loose shoes can lead to rolling ankles. If your shoes feature a folding tongue, fold it down over the knot in your laces to flatten the surface for striking the ball.
