Specifications of Miken Freak Turbos

Miken produces a variety of softball and baseball bats in the Freak line. The Freak Turbo is a slow-pitch softball bat model last manufactured in 2008-09. In 2010, the Freak 98, Freak Plus and Freak Limited Edition bats are the only softball bat models listed on the official Miken web site. All Miken Freak bats share a number of traits and technological benefits, and all models are built with similar specifications. Numerous reviews of the bat on Gear Buyer have noted that it will take a few swings to work the "pop" into the bat. The Miken Freak Turbo has been approved for play by the American Softball Association, the National Softball Association and the International Softball Association.
  1. Size

    • Freak Series bats come in sizes ranging from 26 to 30 ounces; all Miken Freak softball bats are 34 inches in length. A bat of this size is generally tailored for strong players over the age of 17, over 150 pounds, and over 69 inches tall.

    Technology

    • The Freak Turbo is a composite bat constructed with 100 percent "aerospace-grade" R900 carbon fiber combined with a tempered alloy, according to Miken. A "continuous inner weave" process utilizes the full strength of the materials during construction. The use of these materials helps keep the bat light while maintaining its strength and durability. An extended barrel and sweet-spot (ESD "extended sweet spot") increases the likelihood of contact and makes the ball easier to hit long distances. A leather grip provides effective traction with bare hands or batting gloves for accurate and consistent swings.

    Appearance

    • The Miken Freak line of bats are jet black with a black leather grip. The "Freak Turbo" logo is imprinted in black on top of an orange/red fire graphic emblazoned over the barrel of the bat. The bat weight and size is etched into the bottom of the nub of the bat.
