How to Become ISF Certified
Instructions
-
-
1
Become certified in your local area, state and country. Certification rules will vary depending on your area.
-
2
Have your skills evaluated by local or regional Umpires in Chief or other evaluators. Make sure you make improvements in your umpiring based on these evaluations.
-
3
Reach the highest rating level available for umpiring in your home country. In the United States an umpire would need to achieve the American Softball Association's "Elite" level.
-
4
Apply for an ISF umpire school. Your application will need to be approved and signed by your Umpire in Charge and governing body to verify your qualifications. If your application is approved, you will be invited to attend an ISF umpiring school of your choice.
-
5
Achieve a 90 percent or higher score at the ISF's umpiring school. The school will consist of live games, a written examination, case play and mechanics play situations along with a final evaluation working behind home plate.
