How to Play in the National Professional Fastpitch Softball League

The National Professional Fastpitch Softball League, now known as National Pro Fastpitch, is the only professional league for softball players. Created to showcase elite women softball players, the league is dedicated to advancing the sport while providing family entertainment.

Instructions

    • 1

Practice to increase your softball skills. With only one professional softball organization, competition is going to be stiff. The more you practice, the better softball player you'll be. Join a league so that you can play consistently test your skills.

    • 2

Hire a coach who can correct the mistakes in your form and give you drills to enhance your play.

    • 3

Attend college and try out for their softball team. Many National Pro Fastpitch teams hold a college senior draft to sign elite athletes.

    • 4

Plan to attend one of the regional tryouts held by each team in late winter or early spring. These tryouts are open to every woman who is 21 years or older and has completed her college eligibility. Women who are invited to sign a contract for a team must reside in that regional area during the 4 months of the season.

Own your own professional softball team, and hire yourself to play on it. With a small number of teams currently playing and limited spots available for players, creating a new team may be the best way to proceed.
