How to Upgrade a Savage 110 Stock

The Savage Model 110 Rifle is considered a bargain hunting rifle. It is simple to operate and comes equipped with basic parts that leave lots of room for customizing. Replacing the stock is one of the easiest upgrades to the rifle. It can take less than 5 minutes and will add a lot to the rifle's appearance and handling. Stock replacement on a Savage 110 is similar to the same operation on rifles from other manufacturers, such as the Remington 700.

Instructions

Remove the old stock. Unscrew the three screws on the underside of the stock: the front and rear action screws, and the rear trigger guard screw. This removes your trigger guard from the stock and also detaches the stock assembly from the rest of the firearm. Other rifle models have more screws on the rifle's underside, but the 110 is amazingly simple.

Mount the trigger guard on the new stock. Install the rear trigger guard screw through the correct mounting hole on the guard and into the new stock. Have all the parts separated on your workbench so that there is no confusion as to which screws go in each hole.

Install the new stock. Mount the rear action screw through the front of the trigger guard, through the stock and into the barreled action. Mount the front action screw through the corresponding threaded hole farther up the stock. This completes the simple stock upgrade on your Savage Model 110.
