How to Make Your Own Magazine Extension for a Shotgun
Most shotguns do not house ammunition in an external magazine; rather, they store extra rounds in a magazine tube located beneath the barrel. Many shotguns have a magazine tube that acts as a blockade, allowing only a certain number of shells to be loaded. This device may be removed, effectively raising the magazine tube capacity of one's firearm.
Instructions
-
-
1
Unload the shotgun, and clear the chamber of any cartridges, making sure the shotgun is empty of all ammo.
-
2
Locate the magazine tube underneath the barrel. At the tip of the tube there is a metal cap called a barrel nut.
-
3
Unscrew the barrel nut. Directly inside of the magazine will be the magazine choke, resembling something akin to a small pipe. Most likely, this choke will be removed when you pull out the barrel nut. If not, reach into the tube and remove the choke.
-
4
Discard the choke, and replace the barrel nut.
