Grip Tape Styles

Grip tape is an accessory for added friction, providing traction on steps and improving grip on tools and sporting goods. It has adhesive tape on one side, and textured sandpaper or rubber on the other side. Grip tape prevents slipping on ladders and boat steps, or losing a tool grasped with a sweaty hand. Grip tape is a necessity for skateboards to keep feet positioned squarely without sliding. Grip tape comes in a variety of sizes, colors and textures to match almost any need.
  1. Texture

    • Fine grit grip tape is used in areas of bare-foot traffic or where rubber soled-shoes are worn. This includes areas around swimming pools, and on boat decks, ladders and aircraft steps.

Coarser grip tape is applied in areas of heavy foot traffic to provide ample friction and to resist wear.

Rubber grip tape is applied on boats, recreational camping vehicles and all-terrain vehicle foot rests. The rubber will adhere in all conditions, including mud, snow and ice.

    Color

    • Grip tape comes in a variety of colors to match any interior or exterior. It can also be special ordered to meet manufacturer color specifications. A bright teal green boat can have matching teal green grip tape blending into the steps and ladders. A swimming pool with color concrete or other stone decking can have matching gray, blue or red tints of grip tape.

    Size

    • Grip tape is available in rolls or cut pieces. Grip tape rolls range from 1 inch to 4 feet in width. Entire floors can be covered with grip tape laying 4-foot sections side by side, with a near seamless appearance. Boats and aircraft have high-traffic areas such as fishing decks or passageways covered with grip tape.

Grip tape can also be die-cut to particular shapes and sizes to match specific products. Ladders will have a die-cut section precisely matching each landing. Skateboard manufacturers order die-cut grip tape to match the shape of the deck and the cutout, allowing for application of graphics or printed logos on the deck.
