How to Stop Court Shoe Slippage

Whether its basketball or racquetball, your footwear is important--and so is its grip on your playing surface. Playing sports on hard courts is much more difficult when your footing slips on the surface and can lead to injury. Slippage can occur because of poor gripping on shoes or a slippery surface, but there are steps you can take to improve your traction.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the bottom of your shoe soles. They might be dirty or the gripping might be wearing away with time.

    • 2

Wipe the bottom of your shoes with a wet rag. Make sure any dirt or dust on them is off. Dry your shoes.

    • 3

Examine the playing surface. If there is dust or dirt on there, it could be causing slippage, even if your shoes are clean.

    • 4

Wipe down the floor with a wet rag.

    • 5

Dry the floor. Even after you wipe it down, give it time to air dry before playing on the surface, otherwise the moisture could cause further slippage.
