How to Blow a Ring Shaped Bubble

Many onlookers have admired the perfect bubble rings that professional divers often blow underwater. These ring shapes are created by holding your lips in a particular shape while forcing bursts of air from your mouth. Bubble rings are lovely to watch as they gracefully float toward the water's surface. While they are certainly impressive, it is not too difficult to learn to blow them.

Instructions

Take a deep breath and swim underwater to a depth of between 6 feet and 20 feet. The bubble ring needs to be blown from a depth of at least 6 feet in order to form properly. At a depth of more than 20 feet, it becomes more difficult to blow the bubble rings.

Tilt your head backward until it is completely horizontal. You might also do this by lying down horizontally instead of just tilting your head.

    • 3

Close your lips together tightly. Fill your cheeks with air until they feel tightly puffed.

    • 4

Quickly and forcefully push a small amount of air from your mouth, while keeping your mouth in the shape of an "O." The amount of air you expel should make a bubble approximately the size of a golf ball. Immediately after expelling the air, close your lips tightly again. The bubble will form a ring as it nears the surface of the water.
