How to Hit an Open Stance in Tennis

1
Approach the location of where the ball will end up. You want the ball to meet you as much as possible, instead of you meeting the ball. This will allow you to get the best position possible.
-
2
Spread your legs apart into a comfortable position, a bit wider than shoulder width. Hold your racket with one or two hands and swing it back as the ball approaches.
-
3
Try to hit the ball when it is falling, as much as possible, rather than when it is rising after a bounce. This is easier to return because you can more easily line up the angle in which to hit the ball.
-
4
Hit the ball at the center of your racket with your arm fully stretched. Attempt to meet the ball when it is about at hip height.
-
5
Place your weight on the leg that corresponds with the side from which you are hitting, by leaning in as you make the shot. Swing your hips slightly as you make contact with the ball.
-
6
Aim the ball at the same angle in which it approached your racket. If the ball bounced, aim the ball at the same angle but on the opposite trajectory.
