How to Loop a Tennis Ball
The loop shot is effective when your opponent puts you out of position and when he is too close to the net. You can use the shot as a recovery if you are unable to generate a hard shot. It is usually easy for your opponent to return the loop shot, but it will give you time to recover and find a position for a harder shot next time. When your opponent is out of position near the front of the net, you can aim the loop shot to the back of his side of the court to score a point.

1
Angle your racket to 45 degrees with the lower part of the racket's head closest to the net. Wait for the ball.
-
2
Move the head of the racket back and down at a 45 degree angle as the ball approaches. Hit the ball in the center of the racket's head when the ball is in line with your body.
-
3
Put enough force in the shot so that the ball travels into the air and lands in bounds in an empty area of the court to get a point. Run toward the center of your side of the court to get into position for a possible return shot.
