How to Repair Armor Tennis Court Cracks

Armor is a crack repair system used for tennis courts. It uses a knitted fabric that expands as the crack widens so it can adjust to future shifting of the court and spreads the stress of the crack. The Armor website points out that the crack still exists but is hidden beneath the repairs. Only professionals should use the Armor crack repair system. This is not a do-it-yourself project.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the surface. The Armor repair materials won't adhere to contaminants on the tennis court. The best way to prepare the surface is to pressure wash it, according to the Armor web site. You will also need to remove any other crack repair materials you used previously.

    • 2

Fill cracks up to 4 inches wide with the Armor crack repair material. Allow the material to dry, then use a floor sander to smooth out the surface over the crack.

    • 3

Apply the Armor release tape over the crack and then roll on a liquid adhesive.

    • 4

Install narrow Armor fabric over the adhesive, then wide Armor fabric. Smooth out any wrinkles.

    • 5

Install the yellow Armor mesh. The fabric allows the crack to shift without widening the crack and without being visible. Once the adhesive dries, the surface is finished and ready to be painted to match the surrounding surface.
