How to Use a Tennis Wristband

Tennis wristbands are often mistaken as mere fashion accessories, but these wristbands can actually help enhance a player’s performance. They are usually made of a little nylon and cotton terry cloth or some other absorbent fabric. Usually, you can buy a set of tennis wristbands together with a tennis headband made from the same type of material. Knowing how to use a tennis wristband will prevent problems that would otherwise hamper a tennis player's game.

Instructions

Choose a pair of absorbent wristbands that fit your wrists snugly without being too tight or too loose. During a game, you do not want your wristbands to fly off your hands. Wear one tennis wristband on each wrist. They will collect the sweat that would otherwise run onto your palms, causing the tennis racket to slip around in your hands.

Use your wristbands to wipe the sweat from your brows if you are not wearing an absorbent headband. This will prevent sweat from getting in your eyes and hampering your game. Clear vision is necessary for the quick decisions that you need to make when playing tennis.

Use your tennis wristbands to keep moisture away from the racket's handle and increase the lifespan of the racket. Increase the power of your shot with a loose grip, which tennis players achieve by keeping their hands dry. With a moist racket handle, tennis players tend to use a harder grip.

Use wristbands if you are in the habit of switching your racket between hands when playing tennis. The wristbands will keep the racket's handle dry and make the transitions easier. Players who do not use wristbands run the risk of the racket slipping out of their hands because of sweat; also, the time taken to adjust to the moisture on the racket can throw off their game.
