1
Clip out the old strings in the racket, and as you remove the strings make notes regarding the stringing pattern. Note which end of the racket head to start threading the long (main) strings, where the tie-off knots are, which holes to skip, the number of main strings and the number of cross strings.
-
2
Mount the tennis racket on the stringing machine. Check to see that it is secure and locked into place before continuing. Allow for a hairline space between the frame of the racket and the locking mechanism of the machine. During stringing the racket will bend or breath and if it is mounted too tight or too loose, the frame can break during stringing.

3
Set the machine at the recommended string tension for the racket. Most rackets will have this information printed on the inside of the racket's throat. Each racket will have a tension range at which the racket performs at it's best. Usually this is a 10-pound range. If you set the tension higher than what is recommended and the racket breaks during stringing, the warranty will be voided.

4
Follow your notes for the string pattern and start stringing the main strings, clamping each string after it is pulled by the machine. After all main strings have been pulled and clamp, start the cross strings. Pay special attention not to "misweave" the cross strings with the mains. Continue to pull and clamp each cross string until you get to the O-Port holes.

5
Skip to Step 6 if you have a stringing machine with a turntable that has a brake or a lock. Otherwise, use a special Prince tool called a "boomerang" when you get to the large O-Port holes. This tool will keep the cross string in a straight alignment while it is being pulled. Insert the smaller end of the tool into the O-Port from the outside of the frame. Check to see that the cross string is set into the groove of the boomerang tool before pulling and clamping the string. Repeat this process for the remaining O-Port holes. Pull the remaining cross strings and finish with a secure tie-off knot.
-
6
Position the racket so that when the machine pulls the cross string, it will be pulled in a straight alignment. Set the brake or lock on the turntable, pull the string and clamp. Continue this process with the remaining O-Port holes. The turntable lock only needs to be used when pulling the cross strings that thread through the O-Port holes. Pull and clamp the last few cross strings and secure with a tie-off knot.
