Tennis Safety Rules

Tennis is a popular worldwide sport that anyone can learn for fun and play for a lifetime. Competitive leagues exist for all ages and abilities, making tennis a sport for the entire family. Following the safety guidelines for tennis will ensure you won't be sidelined for a preventable injury.
  1. Body Care

    • Warm up and cool down properly to prevent strains and sprains. Using the proper shoes and racket for your body type helps reduce injuries.

    Clear the Court

    • Make sure the court is free from objects you may trip on, such as bags, rackets or spare balls. Anything in the field of play can create a serious injury.

    Be Aware

    • Stop your swing if your doubles partner (or anyone else) is in the area of your swing. Also be aware of fences and net posts that can interfere with a swing and injure you or someone nearby.

    Frustrated Actions

    • Never throw a racket or hit a ball toward your opponent, the referee or a spectator.

    Walking Through

    • Do not cross a court while a point is being played. You may get hit by a racket or collide with a player.
