How to Know the Rules of the Triple Jump

1
Watch your footwork. The Triple Jump must consist of 3 parts. The hop, the step and the jump. The hop must begin and land on the same foot. The step must begin on the foot you landed on for the hop and then you land on the alternate foot. The jump is then conducted from the foot you landed on in the step. The sequence is either left, left, right, or right, right, left.
-
2
Remain in the air as long as possible. No part of your body is allowed to touch the ground between the take-off line and the sand. (Doing a cartwheel to go a little further is not allowed.)
-
3
Stay in your lane. You must take off from the lane in which you approached. This would be a bit silly or hard to try and alter, as moving in anything but a straight line would hurt your distance.
-
4
Keep moving forward. After you have completed your jump and land in the sand, you must not back track in the sand. Exit at the opposite end. This is so the judges can get an accurate reading of the distance of your jump.
-
5
Learn the measurements. The jump is measured from the first mark any part of your body makes in the sand. Go with your momentum and fall as forward as possible.
-
6
Mind the jump board. If your foot oversteps the jump board (or line) you will be given a foul. 3 Fouls and you are out.
