Ideas for Volleyball Posters

Volleyball has become a very popular sport in the last quarter-century. The popularity of the game can be tied directly to the performance of the U.S. Mens and Womens volleyball teams in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. The mens' team won the gold medal and the womens' team won the silver in a series of thrilling matches. Why not honor these teams for their great performance.
  1. Men win gold

    • The U.S. Mens' Olympic team won the gold by beating Brazil in three consecutive games. The team won in a dominating straight-set performance with great individual play from stars like Karch Kiraly, Steve Timmons and Craig Buck. One idea for a poster would be action shots from the gold medal win over Brazil featuring great shots and passes from Kiraly, Timmons and Buck along with the team celebration.

    Women win silver

    • While the womens' team could have been in the shadow of the great mens' team, it was not. The womens' team developed a huge following as it won a series of thrilling matches, including a tremendous 5-set victory over Brazil that was seen as the key to their performance. Stars like Flo Hyman, Debbie Green and Rita Crockett keyed the US showing and their high-flying performances can be featured in a great retrospective poster.

    Karch Kiraly and Flo Hyman

    • Kiraly, a dominating leaper who learned the nuances of the game at UCLA, symbolized the mens' teams efforts. Hyman was a tremendous leaper and inspirational force for the womens' team. She would tragically pass away from heart disease two years later. Honoring those two in a poster would be quite special
