1
Decide which type of intramural volleyball you are interested in playing. There are two different types of intramural volleyball: outdoor volleyball and indoor volleyball. Outdoor volleyball is typically played on sand, while indoor volleyball is played on an indoor court. While they are both considered to be the same sport, the two variations are quite different.

Determine whether you want to start your own intramural team or sign up with an existing team. If you start your own intramural volleyball team, you are in charge of making the decisions for the team and finding players to play on your squad. If you join a team, you won't have to make the decisions, but you won't be able to choose all your teammates.

Find the department in your college or university that is in charge of the intramural sports program. You can find this information either on the website of your college or university or by going to the student information center. Once you find the correct department, you need to fill out paperwork to complete your registration process and pay any necessary fees.

Contact your teammates. This is especially important if you decided to start your own intramural volleyball team. In that case, you are in charge of organizing practices and making sure everyone is on the same page. If you joined a team, you need to contact the head of your team to figure out the practice schedule.

Practice often to help your team improve. Though intramural sports are fun, they are also very competitive. Practicing often helps your team learn to play as a unit and gives them the best chance to win.
