How to Organize a Mud Volleyball Tournament
Instructions

1
Decide whether the tournament will be free or if you'll charge an entrance fee. You can charge a fee to cover expenses or generate a profit while awarding prize money. You also can pick your favorite cause and donate the money.
-
2
Determine where you'll hold the tournament. Often sand volleyball courts can be used. The sand is temporarily removed and dirt and water are brought in to create the mud.
-
3
Figure out how large the tournament will be. Your location will have a large impact on tournament size. The more courts, the larger the tournament. Tournament size will also impact other details, such as how much water you'll need, parking availability and how much food you'll have to stock if you choose to sell any.
-
4
Promote the tournament. Put an ad in your local newspaper or radio station. Post flyers in public areas. Talk to people you know and ask them to spread the word. Provide people with a phone number so they can reach you to register for the tournament. You'll need to know how many teams are playing before the date of the tournament.
-
5
Choose a single elimination or double-elimination tournament structure. When deciding, factor in how many teams are registered to play and how long you want the tournament to last.
-
6
Establish the rules for play, as these can vary somewhat from tournament to tournament. Review the basic rules of volleyball and identify which ones will apply to the games in your tournament. Clearly post the rules and review them with the teams before the tournament begins.
-
7
Have all the players sign waivers. You don't want to be liable for someone's injuries. Clearly state that you or your company or organization will not be held responsible for any damage or loss to individuals or their property. Check with an attorney for more details.
