How to Win a Canoe Polo Game
Instructions
-
-
1
Work on your basic skills of dribbling, passing, shooting, catching, and also boat position--key skills in canoe polo.
-
2
Train with your team canoe polo team. As many as four to six training sessions a week can keep you and your team in top shape, as well as teach you and your team to look for opportunities to score in the game and exploit them.
-
3
Perfect your catching. Don't worry about catching the balls one-handed. It's more important to make sure you have possession of the ball, than risk losing the ball by catching it in a risky manner.
-
4
Make sure you can dribble well, no matter the condition of the water (choppy or smooth), and no matter the pressure. Not being able to dribble well can cost your canoe polo team the possession of the ball.
-
5
Get accomplished at passing. Work at passing no matter the situation. Make sure each pass is at the proper speed. Hitting the opponent's hips and knees with the ball is not legal. Chest-high passes should be used only when the situation demands it.
-
6
Learn how to maintain pressure on your opponents, and to retain your position. Protect the goal against any attacker.
-
7
Work on your attack so that you can draw your opponent in and pass to another teammate.
-
8
Perfect your shooting so that can acquire accuracy and can spot any opening to shoot as they appear.
-
9
Become familiar with the rules of canoe polo. You can find them posted at the Canoe England site.
