Things Commonly Found at a Swimming Pool

A swimming pool is a large container filled with water that can be either above or in-ground. Millions of Americans use swimming pools for recreational use, exercise and as a sport. The location, intended use and age of the owners of the swimming pool will determine which items you may see at a pool.
  1. Pool Lounge Chairs

    • Lounge chairs have a cushion that extends out to allow the user to lie down with her entire body extended. Most people have pool lounge chairs near swimming pools because tanning and relaxing are common swimming pool activities. During the warm spring and summer months, people love to spend their down time lounging at a beach or luxury resort, and when that is not possible, a pool is the next best thing.

    Pool Slides

    • A pool slide connected to a swimming pool allows swimmers an alternative way to get into the water. A hose is attached so that swimmers have a smooth and easy entry into the pool. Pool slides add excitement to the typical swimming pool for people of all ages. Slides can be big or small, short or long, but all serve the same purpose -- to enhance recreation. The size and length of the pool determine the appropriate age group that should be using the slide.

    Inflatables

    • Inflatables include tubes, lounges and chairs that are located inside the pool. People use inflatables as accessories that enable them to achieve the same relaxation as they enjoy from an out-of-the-water lounge chair. Inflatable tubes are in the shape of a circle and have a hole in the center to allow the swimmer to sit. Inflatable lounges are body length and usually have an incline in the rear to allow support for the user's back. Inflatable chairs float on top of the water and provide excellent relaxation.

    Lifeguards

    • A lifeguard is a usually located at a public swimming pool or beach with the responsibility of rescuing swimmers to prevent accidents. Lifeguards are always in their swim suits and sit at a location near the pool. They pay close attention to each swimmer and ensure that pool users practice good and safe behavior at all times. Lifeguards are CPR certified and undergo lifeguard and first aid training.
