SCUBA Hose & Fittings Equipment

Scuba hoses are made of rubber or double-braided polyester and are Kevlar reinforced in some cases. They are attached to regulators and conduct high-pressure air, so they need protection and the joints have to be strong to avoid problems.
  1. High-Pressure Connection

    • High-pressure connections for scuba hoses are typically a 7/16 inch male that screws into the first-stage high-pressure port and a 7/16 inch female that screws onto the submersible pressure gauge. They are connected to either end of the hose.

    Low-Pressure Connection

    • Low-pressure connections consist of a 3/8 inch male connection that screws into the low-pressure port on the regulator first stage and a 9/16 inch female connection that attaches to the regulator second-stage body.

    BCD Hose Connection

    • The Buoyancy Control Device hose is attached to a low-pressure port on the regulator first stage by a 3/8 inch male connection. The connection that attaches to a BCD is a quick-disconnect female slide-lock fitting, which connects to a Schrader valve on the BCD.

    Hose Protectors

    • Hose protectors are devices made from silicone rubber that guard the hose attachments to the ports at each end by sliding over the entire joint.

    Hose Wrap

    • Hose wrap is a spiraling rubber device that wraps around a scuba hose to protect it from damage and enables the hose to be easily identified.
